for use by police. Do NOT BUILD THIS. The following is the discription of a device I have not built or tested. If it does work, it would be very dangerous to build, and operate. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BUILD IT UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!. AND IF YOU DO BUILD IT, DO NOT USE IT, EVER. There, disclaimer done. Go ahead and read :P Ok here's the thing. For a long time now there has been a device that uses a tesla
coil (which generates a LOT OF VOLTAGE) to make an electromagnetic pulse, a strong one.
This electromagnetic pulse, if sent through the computer of a modern day car, will
disable it.. causing the car to stop. The only problem is that the tesla coil has to
be in contact with the car its disabling. It *IS* possible to send EM pulses through
the air.. its done all the time, its called radio. But the kind that we are talking
about are much much stronger, and are actually pulses rather than a long stream of
information , like radio. unfortunately, the strength of the EMP (electromagnetic pulse)
goes away very quickly, the ferther you move away from the tesla coil. So its ability
to fry electronic componetst is useless say, two feet away, depending on the coil.
Now , its known that nuclear bombs can create emmense EMPS, but thats a little
overkill for shutting down someones car I think. So what to do?? Well the police,
a while back , purchased a nifty little invention. It is basically a toy car, with
a tesla coil strapped on the top of it. On the back of the toy car, are rocket engines
, the kind you buy for model rockets. This toy car is placed under the front of the
police car, and when a button is pressed the cars rocket engines fire (hopefully) and
the toy car drives up underneath the car infront of the cop. The tesla coil makes
contact with the metal of the car, and fires its EMP, Shutting down the car. Neat
idea but it never worked in real life? Why? becuase its a terrible design.
First of all, the little toy car, has little toy wheels. Little toy wheels were
not designed for freeway speeds. Secondly, drunk drivers would often swerve, making
it so that the toy car either missed them all together, or ran they ran over the toy
car and their tire insulated the shock. Then there was the rocket engines. Ever use
model rockets? Did they fire each and every time???? NO, they never do. There's always
a dud or two... and on a toy car this is very bad. In this case, the cops car would
become disabled. oooopsie. Another problem was the one shot problem. Because it was
a toy car, it only had the ability to send ONE EM pulse... there wasn't enough
room on the thing for more power than that. Enter sanity, from the mind of the insane. Here's all ya gotta do. Build yourself a nice big ole tesla coil and hook it up to your cars alternator, so it gets power from there. You can build a MUCH bigger coil that way. Have the coil isolated so it doesn't shut down YOUR car. Have two wires, very long wires, hooked up to a spring loaded toy gun on the front of your car. Put a rare earth magnet on the end of the wires, so that the wires make two terminals covering the magnet. When the toy gun is fired, the magnet (and the wires attached to it) will fly into the air and stick to the car in front of you. Simple. Then, you can administer as many high power EM pulses as you want, because your directly connected... and you have all the power int the world untill you run out of gasoline. Wouldnt that be great for those little old ladiess that drive at 10 mph down the highway? heheh. |
